“Plastic is that rarest of publishing experiences, a story released in prose and music.”

Out now from Sony Music and North Street Records, Plastic: The Album tells the story of the novel through a cycle of art-pop songs, featuring lyrics from Plastic’s surrealist musical numbers.

The artist Cindertalk (My Brightest Diamond, Son Lux) sets these lyrics to music both urgent and meditative on the album, co-produced by Grammy-winner Peter Katis (The National, Hozier). Starring on the album is the artist Stranger Cat (a frequent collaborator of Sufjan Stevens), singing in the voice of main character Erin James, leading listeners through a broken plastic world much like our own.
